I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Leak less referrer information

    https://webbkoll.dataskydd.net/en/results?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftutanota.com%2F#referrers

Ideally `no-referrer` or `same-origin` would be used. But if that is deemed too restrictive there are other values that would be better than not setting a policy at all.

  2. Add DNS Certification Authority Authorization entries

Make it more difficult for the CA mechanism to be subverted to attack users.

  5. Lesser propaganda

    Dear Tutanota,

So far, the service has been fantastic, and I am trying out the new mail.tutanota.com client and it's working great for me. The searching is cool and I tried the password recovery strategy and I am happy.

However, as a free user, I am quite annoyed by the incessant advertisement of the premium features. I am still a student and I am willing to support Tutanota in the future, but please tone down the propaganda right in my mailbox right now.

Please be gentle with your free users.

  7. Notification specifying which account received email

I mainly use ios app and have multiple (3) tutanota accounts. When I receive a push notification of a new mail it doesn’t specify which account received it, so I have to exit and enter the app/login until I find the location of the new email.

It would be very helpful to at least have a notification badge in the overview of accounts you see when exiting and reopening the app

    Many thanks!

  10. Provide a basic no-scripts interface option similar to the no-script option provided in safe-mail.net

I would like to see an option to select a fast interface, with no-scripts and no icons similar to that provided by safe-mail.net (goto preferences --> no scripts or icons). Such an interface is faster, more compact, more data on the screen and other benefits.

  12. Accept Privacy.com cards

Privacy.com is a service that allows you to basically create and terminate prepaid credit cards easily. I feel like accepting these cards (and presumably other prepaid credit cards) would improve the privacy factor of paying for tutanota

  13. Lack of key verification, rendering Tutanota's end to end encryption useless

The client does not expose key verification to the user, all users of Tutanota must trust Tutanota to not provide forged keys and perform an MITM attack, this defeats the whole security model of Tutanota, rendering end to end encryption useless. To solve this problem, you must ensure users keep a local copy of a verified keys database, and make sure users do maintain that database and verify their public keys through a side channel such as a physical meeting or several other platforms. The current Tutanota solution does not provide any superior security to Gmail as you still trust…

  15. Introduce a "numeric testament" (timed self-destruct account)

What happens to an account when someone dies or abandon it?? Nothing... All datas are still socked on servers.

It takes a lot of energy to keep datas and accounts alive, uses lots of storage and generates useless carbon print.

Moreover, this feature should ensure a higher step on keeping privacy safe, even after user's death or account abandoning...

For that purpose, you should introduce by default a self-destruct account option, that an user could be able to parameter (total wiping after one year of inactivity, two years, etc...), whatever, a deadline by default in case of total long term…

  16. If not connected let user know somehow (android app)

I noticed the other day that I was in an area with no internet coverage. When I went to delete an email nothing happens. No alert saying why nothing was happening. I figured it out quickly and as soon as I got somewhere with internet it worked correctly. I propose some type of text strike through feature while app is waiting to go back online and then when connected delete the mail, or delete the mail right away and do the syncing when connected. Not sure how hard this would be to implement. Any notification would be good though. Maybe…

  17. When clicking mailto link focus in body

When clicking a mailto link the focus is on the recipient section. The email that's being sent to is already filled in, the focus goes to secondary email address input instead of body. This feels a bit counter-intuitive to me.

  18. Storage error

    Hi,
I have a free account of 1 Giga, but I used way below that amount and I am getting the storage limit message.
Even deleting emails, I am always near 1 giga (currently at 0.950).
    I would appreciate advise.
    Thanks!

  19. add icon to reveal password on login page

Needed for long, difficult-to-type/remember passwords. This feature is becoming common because it is so useful

  20. Do not mark as read automatically

Gmail allows me to mark messages as read manually. Merely opening and reading through the message does not change its status - it stays "unread" until I manually marked it as "read". This is a very important feature for me because most of my important emails require some action from my side, and I don't want them to disappear from the "unread" list until the action is taken.
