I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  2. Thanks and an humble plea

Thank you for this wonderful gift.

Please don't ever make us get a google account or and anything that requires giving a phone number.

It is from those things that I seek refuge in tutanota.

  3. Open Source question

    Question:
If the application is open source, could someone take the source code encryption algorithm and use it for decrypting your emails?

  4. Come up with a catchier name (no offense!)

This service and the UX are fantastic, but I wonder if it'll catch on in the US/Canadian market with the existing name. The name, "Tutanota" might have meaning of some kind in German (which I wish I spoke fluently!), but it's sort of..."weird" in English. Especially with a .de extension. While I think you should be PROUD to hold this in a .de domain, showing your support for good privacy laws in Germany (really all, WELL DONE!), I'm worried that it'll be hard to catch on in the US and Canadian markets without a non-country extension and a more catchy,…

Available now are tuta.io, tutamail.com and keemail.me as well as tutanota.de, tutanota.com. We’ve listened to your feedback and kept the tutanota domain. We also chose 3 additional ones from around 50 idea submissions from our users. If you have further suggestions, let us know!

  5. Allow registration using the Iceweasel browser

When trying to register to Tutanota I get the following error message: "Oh! We are sorry. Unfortunately, your browser is not supported. Please use one of the following browsers:"

I use Iceweasel, a rebranded version of Firefox. I think you should add it to the list of supported browsers.

    My current user agent is: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Iceweasel/37.0.1

  6. display

Bug in the display of messages:
everything Inside the message text finishing by .pl .sh .xx (. and 2 letters) is converted to a web link!!??
like synthetic.sh is displayed as http://synthetic.sh which is totally false.
And you have this even if printing the message.
Something wrong with the code higliting web links or what it thinks is...

  8. group trial period for Outlook plugin

In the paid organisation section for the trial period, only one account is allowed. Wouldn't it be good to include group emails in the free trail so that all can check the use of tutanota.

  9. Mistake in the Spanish translation.

There is a mistake in the translation of the button "forward" in the spanish version in wich "forward" appears translated as "avanzar". "Avanzar" is not the correct translation for this button, when I read it I felt very strange whit the word avanzar, I thought that it was a new button to go to the next email and read it.

So, in this case, the correct translation for the "forward" button is "reenviar" (like in english "resend", to send it again).

The rest of the translation is ok, if I see an othe mistake I will tell you.
    Thanks for…

  10. Setting Default Alias

When an account has multiple email addresses (i.e. alias's) it might be useful to be able to customise which alias is the default.

  13. Option to set default (encrypted, not encrypted) for non-Tutanota user emails

Right now, if you are sending an email to someone with a non-Tutanota email address, the system defaults to treating it as an ecrypted message, requiring the recipient to follow a link, enter a password, etc. You can disable this by clicking a button.

This sort of encryption for non-Tutanota users is a great thing, of course.

But I imagine most of the time, I'm going to want to just send regular non-encrcypted messages to non-Tutanota addresses and don't want to have to click the button every time (and will be likely to forget). I'd like to be able to…

  14. Hi, can you also make one option to sent upencryted messages?

    Hi,
some times people need to contact other people, but there is no option to sent a normal (unencrypted) message. It would be greath if we can choose the sent also a normal message without let the other persons a password. I now passwords can be sent by mobile phone
or other option, but many times people don't want that.

So one option without a password, and one option to sent a message with the password.

People that have a tutanota account are encrypted already.

P.S. when can we add folders??? I thought this option would be added in januari…

This is already possible. Enter the email address, click on the green lock, then it unlocks. You do not need to exchange a password, the email is being sent without end-to-end encryption.
Ps: Folders will be implemented in a few weeks.

Performance in Firefox browser on Android is not the best and also downloading attachments is only working by displaying them in the browser (as far as supported). But anyway we will allow support for Firefox on Android with the next release.

  18. allow the ctrl/cmd+enter keyboard shortcut for sending email

On services like gmail and facebook, you can press ctrl/cmd+enter to send an email/message. It would be great for that shortcut (and possibly other keyboard shortcuts for replying and deleting to exist)

  19. Publish mail server SHA1 hash/fingerprint

For those security conscious customers, could Tutanota publish the SHA1 hash/fingerprint of the email server.
Customers could verify this against what they see in their browser when they connect to your service helping to avoid a 'Man In The Middle' attack.
This could be done formally on the FAQ or Support site and kept up to date should it change.

We’ve published the fingerprints on our blog: Our SSL fingerprints (valid until 26.09.2016) are:

    The SHA1 fingerprint is AD:6F:06:B1:39:30:CF:86:80:D2:9C:D4:FD:87:20:FB:7D:CD:6D:8C

    The SHA-256 fingerprint is 16:D2:8B:90:C6:71:53:D6:25:4C:8C:05:A1:1F:4C:5E:4F:4B:76:4D:0B:1B:53:D8:C9:E1:D6:E0:11:9C:9B:12

  20. show replied

Please somehow mark the emails with "replied", "forwarded" signs. Currently the only way to know whether any message has been replied or forwarded is to search though the sent folder for a "Re:" followed by subject.
